I get a lot of women in my inbox asking me about boudoir sessions and posing. Specifically how I help them hide parts of their bodies they don’t love with Photoshop.
“I have a bit of a belly”, “My thighs are thick, and I don’t love that”, “My butt is non-existent”, “Can you give me bigger boobs, or do I need to wear a push up bra”, “How far out can I schedule so I have time to lose those last few pounds?”
“Can you Photoshop that?”
My answer is always the same. Lady, look here, we’re about to get real. I’m only going to say this once, and you should say it with me. You. Are. Beautiful. The. Way. You. Are. But, if you want a longer, more detailed version of my answer, here it is:
I’m not going to change your body, to make you look smaller or more like an hour glass or something you are not. What I aim to do with boudoir, and it is my job as a professional, is to help you see yourself in all of your awesomeness. The images we take together are strictly to document the way you felt while in my studio. These images should remind you of the goddess within, that fierce, strong woman you hide behind clothes and jewelry.
Yes, we will take images that show your {insert body part here that you judge too harshly}, but here’s the thing, when you leave my studio, those parts of your body will still be there, exactly as they were before you walked in. I would rather you be comfortable with your body, in its entire form: all of the curves and dips, the marks and rolls; than to show you a modified version that hides who you really are. In fact, I pose my clients in ways that empower them, and these poses create self-love for every girl. And that will last longer than any temporary pose I could ever put you in.
My goal is to show you images – where you are doing amazing, beautiful things with those body parts you may not love – that leave you feeling like a rock star. I would never let you leave with images that look nothing like you. It just gives you something else to compare yourself to. And guess what, that’s a big no-no. Comparison is toxic. It eats away at confidence. It destroys self-love. You are a warrior woman. You have survived your life, and your body has helped you get here. Love her. Treat her right. And guess what, the first step in that is recognizing and accepting her beauty. Telling her: you are lovely. You are perfect. You are enough.
So, the short answer is no. No I will not Photoshop 20 pounds off of you. I will not make your boobs look larger. Because you are perfect the way you are.
So when you’re ready to find your inner peace, contact me. We can schedule your luxury boudoir experience. It’s an adventure, that’s worth the investment.
