Body image. We all struggle with it. We all have issues with certain parts of our bodies that we wish were smaller, bigger, more “in shape,” less droopy, less poochy, more…anything!
Well, I’m here to tell you that regardless of what you think you need to look like according to societal norms. There are so many women who look in the mirror and truly dislike what they see. Women are consistently comparing themselves to what they see on TV, in magazines, movies. You know exactly what I’m talking about.
You see a model in a magazine wearing a super cute piece of clothing (for this boudoir blog, let’s just say it’s lingerie..because obvs) and you think to yourself “Wow! She can really pull that off.” And then the second you say that to yourself, you think “I can’t.” The media is constantly throwing at us their idea of perfection and I’m here to tell you – it’s a load of shit.
(I hope you read that in a shouting voice in your head…because I meant it that way!)
I’ve done another blog post about Photoshop (you can read it here) and honestly, these two topics are super closely related. My job as your boudoir photographer is to make you feel the most sexy, confident and seriously ass-kicking version of yourself possible, all while having a blast. I’m capturing a moment in time for you when you are stepping outside your comfort zone and really getting in touch with your inner goddess.
We talk about #selflove a lot in my VIP Group on Facebook. In fact, every Sunday I encourage my girls to do something that is an act of self love. Whether it’s loving your body with a nice hot bath, doing some yoga, writing in a journal, taking hot belfies (another favorite past time in the VIP group – if you don’t know what a belfie is, then girl you definitely need to join us), anything that gives you a reset to empower you mentally and physically.
If you do want to change something about yourself, make sure you do it for you and no one else. Don’t do it because you think if you lose that bit of baby weight people will like you more, or if you had bigger boobs, you would be more attractive. Your body is a work of art. You only get one body, girl – love it with everything you have. Because you’re fierce in your own skin.
P.S. If you do have negative thoughts about your body, try to replace every negative thought you have with a positive one. You can read more about overcoming body image issues here.
