So let’s say you’ve booked your session… now what?! I’m sure you are feeling a ton of emotions right about now: excited, nervous, ready/not ready, but most of all – feel accomplished!
You took the first step, and now we’re here to help you rock it.
Your boudoir experience is an investment, so of course you want to put extra time and effort into prepping before your session to ensure the maximum boudie experience. (…oh, and if you’re doing a couples session – you and your partner can definitely prep together. It’s more fun with two anyway!)
You’ve heard it a million times. More water = glowing skin. And well, your mama was right! Besides giving you more energy, it will make your skin glow and help to flush out any yucky toxins. To some, water is their easy go-to beverage of choice. But to others, it can be hard to drink such a bland thing. Try jazzing it up with some lemon in a cute bottle that you can refill throughout the day – or even use a water additive like Mio Water Enhancer or Propel Powder. If you are like me, you need a reminder to keep that hydration going, and guess what? There are some pretty amazing things out there to do just this. Check out this article on smart ways to help you get your hydration on.
Start moisturizing regularly before your session. Trust me – no one wants scaly skin in their photos. We love glowing skin! Be mindful not to try any new skincare products for a few weeks before your session, in case you have an allergic reaction.
In our studio, body hair is natural and a personal choice! You can show up to your session with as little or as much as you’d like. If you want to wax, feel free, but make sure if this is your first time to give yourself at least a week to heal before your session. We want to limit any redness or bumps where possible.
Stretch for 5-10 minutes before bed and/or when you wake up in the morning. Give yourself a good 2 weeks of solid stretches. I’m going to be putting you in a bunch of bendy poses with your back arched, your arms holding you up, and curving your body in the best ways.
Here are some of my favorite (and super easy!) stretches that will help you to be a limber and flexible Siren on your session day:
Do any stretches that you are comfortable with to get you prepped and ready to stretch yourself out for your session. In the case of extreme procrastination, stretching the morning of your session is mandatory! You want to be sure you are at your most limber!
You deserve it and you know you need it! Besides helping with things like puffy or dark circles under your eyes, having a good night’s sleep will also do wonders for your energy level in the shoot. It’s a looong day so you’ll definitely want to be well-rested.
